Desire Spins Bit in North Falkland Basin
Desire Petroleum has spud the Dawn/Jacinta 25/5-1 well in Trance I using semisub Ocean Guardian. The well is targeting two levels in the North Falkland Basin. The Jacinta prospect is a lower Cretaceous stratigraphic sand pinch out trap with a targeted depth of around 3,281 feet (1,000 meters), and the Dawn prospect is a 3-way dip, fault bonded closure with a targeted depth of around 4,429 feet (1,350 meters). The total depth of the well is about 5,479 feet (1,670 meters) and should take about 30 days to complete. Furthermore, 3D seismic operations have commenced in the North Falkland Basin, in a joint survey with Rockhopper. The survey should be completed by the end of April 2011.SubseaIQ provides focused, in-depth coverage of offshore field development activities around the world, with daily updates on hundreds of offshore fields and facilities.
