Petrobras Starts Up Production in Pre-salt Campos
Petrobras is performing an extended well test for the Carimbe reservoir in the Campos Basin. The test, on well 6-CRT-43-RJS, marks the beginning of pre-salt oil exploration in the central area of the sedimentary basin. During the EWT period, the well, connected to the P-48 FPSO on the Caratinga field, should flow at a rate of 24,000 bopd. The total recoverable volume from this well amounts to 97 million barrels.
The EWT on this discovery is part of Petrobras’ Planoleo program, designed to increase exploration and production in areas surrounding producing fields, in order to harness the capacity of existing facilities, reduce costs, and streamline the production of new volumes of oil. Petrobras has submitted the Discovery Assessment Plan to ANP, which calls for the EWT on this well, along with the drilling and evaluation of two additional extension wells.
In addition to the Carimbe accumulation, Petrobras has oil discoveries in the pre-salt layer in other Campos Basin regions. In the Albacora Leste field, there is evidence of oil at Crealb; and while in Marlim Leste, and Marlim, Petrobras will begin EWTs in areas referred as Tracaja and Brava, respectively.
