Total Charges Ahead in West Franklin Development
Total has launched Phase 2 of development of the West Franklin field in the UK sector of the North Sea. This phase of development is aimed at producing estimated reserves of 85 million barrels of oil equivalent, and will consist of drilling three wells and installing a new platform tied-back to the Elgin/Franklin facilities.
Production from the second phase of development should start by 2013 and should reach 40,000 boepd. West Franklin is located on Blocks 29/5b and 29/4d about 149 miles (240 kilometers) east of Aberdeen.
Total operates the field on behalf of Elgin Franklin Oil & Gas (Total 77.5% and GDF Suez 22.5%).
