Desire Primes Bit at Rachel North
Desire Petroleum received regulatory and partner approvals to drill the 14/15-2 Rachel North well. The 14/5-1 Rachel well was plugged and abandoned, and now the Ocean Guardian semisub is waiting on weather to move to the Rachel North location. Rachel North will be vertically drilled to an estimated total depth of 10,007 feet (3,050 meters) with a bottomhole location 1.06 miles (1.7 kilometers) from the Rachel sidetrack 14/15-1Z bottomhole. Drilling operations should last about 35 days. The well is intended to evaluate the sands with oil shows encountered in the Rachel sidetrack, and other possible sands not met in the sidetrack. The Rachel North prospect is located in Tranche D, and is operated by Desire Petroleum, holding a 92.5% interest; Rockhopper Exploration holds the remaining 7.5% interest.SubseaIQ provides focused, in-depth coverage of offshore field development activities around the world, with daily updates on hundreds of offshore fields and facilities.
