Songa Offshore Charters Rig to Statoil on NCS

Statoil signed a Letter of Intent with Songa Offshore for the use of semisub Songa Dee to carry out production drilling on the Gullfaks field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The semisub will be used for drilling and completing wells, and will then contribute to field production. The drilling operations will increase the field's production volumes from 2012, and will help boost the recovery rate from the field, stated Statoil. Drilling is expected to commence in August 2011. Statoil is the operator of the majority of the Greater Gullfaks area with a 70% share, partnering with Petoro, which holds the remaining 30%.
