In a release sent to Rigzone recently, industry body Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) announced that Rob Rinder is confirmed as the host for its annual awards ceremony in Aberdeen later this month.
OEUK’s release describes Rinder as a British criminal barrister turned broadcaster, educator, and Sunday Times No.1 bestselling author.
“Rob’s broadcast career began with Judge Rinder,” the release highlighted.
“Winning a BAFTA with his episode of ‘Who Do You Think You Are’, his following documentary series ‘My Family, The Holocaust, and Me’ and ‘Holy Land’’: Our Untold Stories,’ aired to critical acclaim,” it added.
“In 2020, Rob was awarded an MBE for his services to the Holocaust education and an honorary doctorate for his legal work. This year he received a Doctor of Literature from University College London for writing, teaching, and advocacy in social equality and Holocaust education,” it continued.
“Rob’s novels ‘The Trial’ and ‘The Suspect’ became instant Sunday Times bestsellers and are inspired by his experiences as a barrister,” it went on to state.
OEUK stated in the release that the OEUK Awards will shine a light on the industry’s brightest stars at the P&J Live venue. The event is scheduled for November 28.
“Attracting well over 100 nominations, the event provides a great opportunity to recognize the achievements of businesses and individuals throughout the offshore energy sector, including oil, gas, wind, hydrogen and carbon capture and storage,” OEUK said in the release.
The OEUK Awards 2024 website describes the ceremony as a “flagship event” and as “one of the most anticipated … on the industry calendar”. More than 450 guests are expected to attend this year’s awards show, the site outlines.
“The OEUK Awards provide a unique platform to honor the innovations, dedication, and excellence that drive the sector forward,” the site states.
“From ground-breaking projects and technological advancements to exceptional leadership and commitment to sustainability, the awards highlight the best and brightest in the field,” it adds.
In the release, OEUK CEO David Whitehouse said, “we have an abundance of talented people and enterprising companies helping to drive a homegrown transition towards low carbon energies”.
“Their expertise is driving innovation and positive change that is helping to shape the UK’s energy future,” he added.
“The OEUK awards provide a special opportunity to recognize and congratulate those whose hard work and dedication is helping us unlock the huge potential there is here in the UK. They represent some of the very best examples of our amazing offshore industry and we look forward to revealing the winners in November,” he went on to state.
OEUK’s release highlighted that awards will be presented for the following categories:
- Apprentice of the Year
- Early Career Professional of the Year
- People & Culture
- Outstanding Contribution to Energy Security
- Outstanding Contribution to Energy Decarbonization
- Innovative Supply Chain of the Year (large enterprise)
- Innovative Supply Chain of the Year (SME)

In a release posted on its site back in September, OEUK announced the finalists for its 2024 awards ceremony.
“Well over a hundred nominations were considered by an expert panel and whittled down to a shortlist of finalists whose contribution to the industry has been exceptional,” OEUK stated in that release.
Whitehouse noted in this release that “the OEUK awards show the very best examples of our amazing offshore industry which is at the heart of the UK’s prospects for the energy transition, economic growth and homegrown innovation”.
“We’ve had a record response to our call for nominations resulting in almost 40 finalists, which highlights the abundance of talented people and enterprising companies throughout the UK,” he added.
“OEUK’s Awards give us the opportunity to recognize their talents and expertise so they can continue developing the brilliant and innovative solutions we need to unlock the huge potential there is here in the UK,” he continued.
