NPD Grants Equinor Drilling Permit for Wells Offshore Norway
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Equinor Energy AS a drilling permit for wells 6608/10-18, 6608/10-18 A and 6608/10-18 B, located in production license 128 D offshore Norway.
The wells, which will be drilled using the Songa Encourage drilling facility, are aiming to delineate the Cape Vulture discovery.
Equinor Energy AS is the operator of the license with an ownership interest of 63.95 percent. The other licensees are Petoro AS (24.55 percent) and Eni Norge AS (11.5 percent).
The permit is contingent upon Equinor securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities prior to commencing drilling activities.
Production license 128 D was awarded on February 5, 2016, in APA 2015 on the Norwegian shelf. Well 6608/10-18 is the first well to be drilled within the license.
