No Theft in Saipem Cyber Attack
Saipem revealed Monday that there has been no theft or loss of data in connection with the cyber attack it suffered recently.
The company also announced that “restoration activities” of the infrastructures hit by the cyber attack “are near completion”.
Saipem first communicated the cyber attack on December 10. On December 12, the oil and gas services company revealed that the cyber attack hit servers based in the Middle East, India, Aberdeen and Italy.
“The attack led to the cancellation of data and infrastructures, typical effects of malware,” Saipem said in a statement posted on its website last Wednesday.
“The restoration activities, in a gradual and controlled manner, are under way through the back-up infrastructures and, when completed, will restablish the full operation of the impacted sites,” Saipem added.
Saipem operates in more than 60 countries, is present in almost every oil and gas market around the world and employs 32,000 workers, according to its website.
The company has five divisions, comprising Engineering & Construction Offshore and Onshore, Drilling Offshore and Onshore and XSIGHT.
