New Hires Will Play 'Key Role' at Europa Oil & Gas
Europa Oil & Gas (Holdings) plc’s new boardroom hires will play a ‘key role’ in achieving future success at the company, according to Europa CEO Hugh Mackay.
The UK and Ireland focused exploration and production firm announced Thursday that it had recruited Brian O'Cathain as a non-executive director and Simon Oddie as a replacement for non-executive chairman Colin Bousfield, who is stepping down. Both appointments are effective January 25.
“I am delighted to welcome Simon and Brian to the board. They each bring substantial and relevant experience of upstream exploration and production along with first class technical and commercial expertise,” Mackay said in a company statement.
“We are focused on our corporate performance and I am confident they will both play a key role in achieving future success for the company. We have an industry-leading high-impact exploration portfolio offshore Ireland, we have a full cycle exploration and production portfolio onshore UK and we are actively pursuing new venture opportunities,” he added.
Europa’s outgoing chairman, Colin Bousfield, said it had been a privilege to be associated with Europa.
“I would like to thank shareholders, employees and fellow board members for their support over the years,” Bousfield said in a company statement.
O’Cathain is a geologist and petroleum engineer with over thirty years’ experience in senior technical and commercial roles in upstream oil and gas exploration and production companies, including Shell International, Enterprise Oil and Tullow Oil.
Oddie has over 40 years of experience as a petroleum engineer, technical consultant, manager and investment adviser in the upstream oil and gas sector. He has worked with Schlumberger, ERC Energy Resource Consultants, Enterprise Oil and Gemini Oil and Gas Advisors LLP.
