Majors In Top 50 Employers for Women List
Oil and gas majors BP and Shell have been included in the Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2019 list.
The list is the UK’s most highly profiled and well-established listing of employers leading the way on workplace gender equality, according to partner Business In The Community (BITC).
BP and Shell did not appear in the annual list in 2018. The last time an oil and gas major made it onto the Times Top 50 Employers for Women list was in 2017, when Shell was included.
Commenting on Times Top 50 Employers for Women in a statement posted on its website recently, BITC said, “these employers make gender equality part of their business strategy at all levels and are sought out by people looking for their first job and looking to move roles later in their career”.
Every year, BITC invites companies with a presence in the UK to apply to be included in the Times Top 50 Employers for Women list by detailing what they are doing to work towards gender equality in their organization. Employers who make it onto the list are selected by gender equality experts at BITC.
The assessment process focusses on transparency, the causes behind gaps, what companies are doing to address these structural issues and the impact of their actions, BITC states on its website.
