Lundin Makes 2 Oil Discoveries Off Norway
Lundin makes two oil discoveries on the eastern edge of the Edvard Grieg field offshore Norway.

Lundin Petroleum AB revealed Thursday that its wholly owned subsidiary, Lundin Norway AS, has made two oil discoveries on the eastern edge of the Edvard Grieg field, offshore Norway, in PL338.

The discoveries have combined gross resources of between four and 37 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe), according to Lundin, which highlighted that both finds can be developed with wells from the Edvard Grieg platform.

Lundin Norway is the operator of PL338 with a 65 percent working interest. The partners are OMV with a 20 percent stake and Wintershall DEA with a 15 percent interest.

The Leiv Eiriksson rig, which made the discoveries, will stay in the Utsira High area to drill a number of shallow gas pilot wells as part of the Solveig development project, before moving to drill the Goddo exploration well 16/5-8S in PL815, Lundin revealed.

Goddo will test the extension of the Rolvsnes weathered basement oil discovery into the adjacent license, where the combined area is estimated to contain gross potential resources of more than 250 MMboe.

Earlier this week, Equinor revealed that it, along with its partners Ineos E&P and Faroe Petroleum, made an oil and gas discovery in the Norwegian Sea through the Snadd Outer Outer/Black Vulture exploration well.

Gas was proven at the well’s first target, Snadd Outer Outer. Further drilling to the second target, Black Vulture, hit oil. The well volume totals 3 to 60 million barrels of oil equivalent “before further delineation is made”, according to Equinor.

Back in March, Equinor revealed that it - together with partners Petoro, ConocoPhillips and Repsol - had made an oil discovery from the Visund A platform in the Telesto exploration well in the North Sea.
