Keppel Supplies New Jackup
Keppel FELS Ltd. has delivered the Hermod jackup rig to Borr Drilling Limited safely, on-time and within budget, parent company Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd. (Keppel O&M) reported Tuesday.
“We are pleased to deliver a fourth high-specification jackup rig to Borr Drilling which is also the 70th KFELS B Class rig to enter market,” Tan Leong Peng, Keppel O&M’s executive director for newbuilds, said in a written statement emailed to Rigzone. “Operators and oil companies have shown a preference for the high spec KFELS B Class rig as it is robust, reliable, versatile and efficient.”
Keppel O&M pointed out the Hermod is the fourth of 11 jackup rigs that it is building for Borr. The firm added the KFELS B Class rig commands a roughly 25-percent market share among all jackups delivered since 2000. Also, it stated the rig can operate in 400 feet (122 meters) of water, drill to 30,000 feet (9,144 meters) and accommodate up to 150 people.
“Our customers can be assured that these rigs have a proven track record and always deliver excellent performances wherever they are deployed,” Borr CEO Svend Anton Maier stated. “The global jackup drilling rig fleet utilization has been on an upward trend, driven by increasing utilization of modern rigs such as Keppel’s B Class rigs. Demand also continues to grow, with various jackup rig tenders across the world.”
Other jackups in Borr’s 11-rig order that Keppel has delivered include the Saga, Skald and Thor, Keppel noted.
