KCA Deutag Unit Wins Design Contract

RDS, KCA Deutag’s engineering and design unit, reported Tuesday that it has won a contract to perform detailed design of a drilling facility for an offshore platform.
According to RDS, the contract marks its first detail design award for a new greenfield platform since the 2014 oil price collapse.
“RDS is delighted to have won this new contract,” Albert Allan, RDS senior vice president, said in a written statement emailed to Rigzone. “It is great to see confidence about the outlook returning to the industry, which is starting to give operations the confidence to sanction large projects once more.”
RDS noted that the contract’s duration is 12 months, with future follow-on support from the firm’s offices in London. The company did not disclose the client's name or any specifics regarding the drilling facility, which is a platform's drilling module.
“We are looking forward to building on a very successful FEED for our client and partners and to continuing to deliver on budget, within schedule and in line with our company vision for safe, effective, trouble-free operations,” concluded Allan.
