Guyana-Suriname Basin Emerges as a Hotbed of Oil, Gas Exploration
“This region could still turn out to be a one-shot wonder. Ghana comes the mind when practically everybody thought it was going to be a giant payload across a wide margin, but it turned out to be a Goldilocks zone,” Wilson said. “Still, Guyana could prove to be something very different and attractive. But it is very tricky because the oil could be limited to one small zone.”
However, the long-term prospects for the entire region are bright overall.
“You could possibly see 10 to 15 developments in the basin over the next 20 years,” Wilson said. “But, of course, they have to find the oil first.”
