Petronas announced Monday that a pipe rupture and a fire incident occurred at the Sabah-Sarawak Gas Pipeline (SSGP) at 1:59am, approximately 2.5 miles from Long Selulong, Ulu Baram, Miri.

The company revealed that the fire is now under control and said it is “closely monitoring the situation”.

“We would like to inform that no injuries were reported. The relevant authorities have been notified and we will continue to engage with the communities in the surrounding area,” Petronas said in a company statement.

“An investigation on the incident is currently ongoing and we wish to assure the public that safety of the people and environment remains our utmost priority and concern,” Petronas added.

In May last year, Petronas revealed that a vent stack at BV106 (KP122) of the SSGP caught fire. The fire was extinguished within a couple of hours and no injuries were reported, according to Petronas.
