Fatality on North Sea Platform
Marathon Oil U.K. LLC has confirmed that a crew member working on the Brae Alpha platform in the North Sea has passed away as a result of a non-work related cause.
“It is with deep regret that Marathon Oil U.K. LLC confirms that a crew member working on the Brae Alpha platform passed away,” a company spokesperson stated.
“Next of kin and all the relevant authorities have been informed,” the spokesperson added.
Police Scotland said they had been made aware of the death of a 59 year old man offshore on the Brae Alpha platform at around 10.24am on March 15.
“Enquiries to establish the circumstances are ongoing however there are no apparent suspicious circumstances. As with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal,” Police Scotland said in an organization statement.
The Brae Alpha platform is located in block 16/07a, approximately 155 miles north-east of Aberdeen.
