Drilling Systems, a simulator developer, has joined forces with industrial training provider AIS to create a new technology-focused training organization for the global energy industry.

The new company, named 3T Energy Group, says it wants to “substantially reduce” the amount of time and cost involved in managing skills and competencies, at the same time as delivering better trained personnel, improving levels of safety and increasing profitability.

3T will utilize technology such as simulators, e-learning, virtual reality, iPads and integrated software alongside traditional training methods.

“The 3T Group is a global business with an outstanding team of people, expertise and assets and we plan to embrace and leverage our combined strength to meet the needs of the energy sector moving forward,” Paul Stonebanks, group president at 3T Energy Group, said in a company statement.

“Using the largest portfolio of courses, integrated software platforms, simulation, digital technologies and an unmatched customer footprint, 3T will transform, connect and power the energy industry across the world,” he added.

Ian Hudson, chief executive officer at 3T, said the group will utilize the power of technology to help drive higher safety standards and provide a better education for the workforce of tomorrow.

3T Energy Group, which is headquartered in Newcastle Upon Tyne in the North of England, currently has 350 staff globally, with offices in Bournemouth, Aberdeen, Grimsby, London, Houston and Dubai.

The company’s future growth plans include strategic global acquisitions and the creation of three new UK training centers in the next two years.
