Atwood Oceanics announced that the Richmond has been awarded a contract by Helis being turnkey drilled by Applied Drilling Technology for one well in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, at a dayrate of $33,500.

Yuma Exploration and Production Company Inc. announced a discovery in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana in the West Black Bay area.

Coastal Petroleum Company will discontinue completion efforts at both the Evaline twin well and the Listou (Blaine County) well in Montana.

Atwood Oceanics reports that Helis Oil & Gas has exercised its one remaining option to have the Richmond drill four additional wells in the Gulf of Mexico.

Atwood Oceanics says that the Richmond's current contract with Helis Oil & Gas Company has been extended with an award of eight additional wells to be drilled in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
