Chevron Donates $500K for Hurricane Relief
Chevron U.S.A. Inc. has announced a contribution of $500,000 from the Chevron Global Community Fund to assist with efforts to recover from the damage done by Hurricane Michael.
The $500,000 donation will be evenly split between the American Red Cross and Volunteer Florida. Chevron has also stated that it will match any qualifying donations made to the relief efforts by its employees and retirees.
Chevron has a large marketing presence in Florida and the Gulf Coast, supplying thousands of Chevron and Texaco-branded stations from numerous terminals throughout the region.
“Hurricane Michael has taken a devastating toll,” Dale Walsh, president of Chevron Americas Products., said in a company statement.
“The communities will come back stronger than ever, but in the meantime, there are families who are struggling. We are making this donation to help get these families the immediate assistance they need as they put their lives back together,” he added.
In an article on Hurricane Michael posted on October 15, the BBC reported that at least 18 deaths had been confirmed so far across four states and stated that the death toll was expected to rise.
Back in July, Chevron announced a contribution of $500,000 to the American Red Cross in support of relief efforts for California wildfires.
Chevron was founded in California in 1879 and has operations around the state.
