Buhari to Contest in 2019 Nigerian Elections
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari will contest for a second term of office in the country’s 2019 elections, according to an announcement from Presidency Nigeria on social media site Twitter.

Buhari was elected president of Nigeria in 2015, ousting Goodluck Jonathan.
Earlier this year, oil and gas analysts at BMI Research outlined that if Buhari chose to run for the Nigerian presidency again, it would not ‘sit well’ with the militant groups of the south.
In 2016, the Niger Delta Avengers group carried out a series of attacks on Nigeria’s energy infrastructure which sent shockwaves throughout the region.
At the start of this year, the group issued threats to a number of developments offshore Nigeria on its website, including the Bonga and Agbami assets.
