Babcock Gets North Sea Aviation Support Contract
Babcock revealed Thursday that it has secured a new three-year contract to provide Serica Energy with offshore helicopter crew transport services.
The contract will see Babcock transport Serica Energy passengers to and from the company’s Bruce complex in the North Sea, Babcock said. The contract was awarded after a competitive tender, Babcock highlighted.
Flights will use a mix of S-92 and H175 helicopters and are scheduled to begin on December 1 out of Babcock’s main helicopter terminal at Aberdeen International Airport, Babcock noted.
“We have flown for Serica Energy several times previously so we are very pleased to have now been selected as their aviation partner of choice for this long-term contract,” Babcock Offshore Director, Simon Meakins, said in a company statement.
“All of us at Babcock Offshore are looking forward to building our relationship with Serica Energy as we deliver the safe and efficient aviation support they require,” he added.
In February this year, Babcock revealed the appointment of Meakins as the director of its UK offshore business, which provides crew change and search and rescue services to the oil and gas industry.
Meakins trained as a helicopter pilot during his time with the RAF and has been with the business since 2011.
According to Babcock’s website, the company’s pilots transport around 260,000 men and women to oil and gas platforms in the North Sea every year.
