Average Salary for UK Oil, Gas Jobs Up Nearly 10%

The average advertised salary in the UK for oil and gas jobs has increased by almost 10 percent over the last year, according to new research by Adzuna.

The study, which analyzed jobs advertised in the UK in June, showed that the average salary for jobs in the oil and gas sector came in at $54,476 (GBP 41,928) last month, which marked an 8.8 percent increase compared to last year.

Industries which saw the three largest average salary increases in the UK were admin, teaching, and creative and design, respectively. Oil and gas ranked fifth in terms of the largest average salary increases over the past 12 months.

“The energy industry has seen some turbulent times in recent years, and it's only natural that news of a smoother ride going forward is welcome for industry veterans and new joiners alike,” Doug Monro, co-founder of Adzuna, told Rigzone.

“With average advertised pay packets up 8.8 percent, residing at an average advertised pay promise of GBP 41,928, the relief flooding the industry after many months of salary stagnation and declines is tangible,” he added.

I'm surprised they can get anyone at all to work for that amount, that virtually amounts to slave labour, that can't be rig crews, surely?
