Amarinth Bags Pump Order for FPSO Bound for Angola

Pump equipment designer and manufacturer Amarinth has secured an order for the floating storage, production, and offloading (FPSO) unit Agogo, which is currently under construction by Malaysia-based Yinson Production Pte Ltd (YP) and destined for offshore Angola.
The customer is an undisclosed Norwegian company specializing in energy recovery and water treatment solutions for the offshore oil and gas sector, Amarinth said in a news release. The financial details were not disclosed.
The order marks the company’s second one with Amarinth following the successful delivery of previous pumps and “underscores Amarinth's reputation as a trusted partner in highly challenging offshore environments,” according to the release.
The FPSO Agogo is expected to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2025 as part of the Agogo integrated west hub development project off Angola. The project’s field development plan encompasses 36 wells, including both production and injection wells.
According to an October 2023 report, YP and Azule Energy are piloting an offshore carbon capture and storage (CCS) plant on FPSO Agogo in Angola. The report also mentioned that Carbon Circle Holding AS, a carbon removal and energy engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company, has been selected to design and construct the CCS plant.
Amarinth's bespoke pump design is compliant with the standards of NORSOK M-630, which dictate material specifications for petrochemical applications, particularly in offshore environments. In addition, recognizing the unique environmental conditions of the African continent, Amarinth said it designed bespoke sunshades to go over the motors, safeguarding them against the sun. The approach to product design reflects the company’s commitment to ensuring the long-term operational efficiency of its pumps, it noted.
“The customer’s insistence on an aggressive 26-week delivery schedule to align with Yinson's build timeline reinforces the industry's recognition of Amarinth's ability to deliver under pressure,” Amarinth added.
Amarinth Managing Director Oliver Brigginshaw said, "Securing a second order with this important Norwegian customer, this time for the FPSO Agogo, represents another significant milestone for Amarinth in our commitment to delivering high-performance solutions in the most demanding of environments, particularly within the burgeoning FPSO market”.
“With a bespoke pump design tailored to meet stringent requirements, we have once again demonstrated our agility and expertise in addressing complex project needs, supporting our customer and Yinson Production in their endeavors,” he remarked.
In February 2023, YP and Azule entered into a firm contract for the provision, operation, and maintenance of the FPSO vessel for the Agogo Integrated West Hub Development Project in Angola. FPSO Agogo will be YP’s first offshore production project in Angola. The plant is the world’s first post-combustion carbon capture unit installed onboard an FPSO, YP said in the earlier report.
In addition to the CCS plant, FPSO Agogo will feature other emissions-lowering technologies such as electrification, advanced automation and digitalization, a combined-cycle power system, a seawater turbine generator, a hydrocarbon cargo tank blanketing scheme, and an integrated closed flare system. The combined innovations onboard FPSO Agogo will significantly reduce its overall carbon emissions and improve operational efficiency, transforming it into an industry-leading project.
