When the U.S. Congress passed the 1971 Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) it established the foundation for the creation of Native Corporations in Alaska. Incorporated in 1972 the Arctic Slope Regional Corporation was created to manage the money and five million acres of land granted to the Inupiat under ANCSA. Today, ASRC continues to grow into a successful and profitable native corporation.
From oil refineries to aerospace engineering, ASRC is a diversified company that has proven to be a wise investor in its shareholders, employees, and the economy. The 1998 revenues of ASRC were near 900 million dollars, with a net income over 28 million dollars. The goal of ASRC is to become a profitable billion-dollar corporation by the year 2001.
