Company Overview: Hirschmann

Research institutes are forecasting an annual growth rate in excess of 20 - 30 percent for Industrial Ethernet. A leader in this area is the German company Hirschmann Electronics (Neckartenzlingen near Stuttgart), which has combined its competence in the area of networking into the "Automation and Network Solutions" product division.

At the start of the 1980s Hirschmann developed the first optical connectors. Building on this work, the company set up the first optical Ethernet network in the world at the University of Stuttgart. Currently Hirschmann is the only company on the market to offer a complete product range including marine approval for homogeneous industrial data communication using Ethernet.
