These portable, reliable instruments were chosen by NASA as standard equipment used on all Space Shuttle flights and aboard the International Space Station. Fixed controllers, with onboard or remote sensors, monitor signals from any 4 to 20 mA sensor/transmitter. This signal can operate alarms, lights and horns or activate other controlling devices. Wireless systems, consisting of solar panels and radio transmitter-receivers, eliminate the need for wiring, saving money and installation time.
