Company Overview: North Coast Energy

North Coast Energy, Inc. has been in business since 1981 as an independent gas and oil company engaged in exploration, development, and production activities in the Appalachian Basin (see map) of the United States. The Company operates approximately 3700 wells in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virgina and Kentucky and owns more than 1400 miles of natural gas gathering pipelines. Currently, the Company has estimated net reserves of approximately 131 Bcf of Natural Gas.

North Coast Energy, Inc. has access to up to the minute gas prices, weather conditions, and other energy related events through its computerized satellite system. The Company currently sells gas to a variety of end-users and marketers including: Texaco, First Energy, Aquila, East Ohio Gas and Various industrial and commercial businesses.

North Coast's largest stockholder and majority interest holder, NUON International, is a division of NUON NV, the largest utility in the Netherlands. NUON provides utility services to over 5.1 million customers and had revenues in excess of $4 billion.
