Company Overview: Kinder Morgan
Our infrastructure connects many of the country's most prolific gas supplies with growing and complementary markets. We have access to the four largest gas supply basins in North America, while our major markets include Chicago, Houston and Kansas City. We provide services to natural gas distribution utilities, end-users and other producers and marketers in the Rocky Mountain and Mid-Continent regions.
KMI's primary earnings engine is Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America (NGPL), which has over 10,000 miles of natural gas pipeline and 200 Bcf of storage in the Midwest, with peak market deliverability of 5.7 Bcf/day. NGPL serves such markets as Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas and Texas.
Additional interstate pipelines include:
- the 900-mile Pony Express Pipeline, which stretches from central Wyoming to Kansas City. It was built to provide access for constrained Rocky Mountain natural gas supplies to the Mid-Continent region and growing markets, such as Kansas City. It has a design capacity of 255 MMcf/day.
- the 280-mile TransColorado Pipeline, which was completed in 1999. A joint venture with Questar, this pipeline provides new infrastructure for the growing natural gas supplies in the central and southern Rocky Mountain supply basins. It has design capacity of more than 300 MMcf/day.
