Well Control School

Well Control School (WCS) offers WCS Certified, IWCF and IADC accredited well control training for drilling, workover-completion, coiled tubing, snubbing and wireline operations for surface and combined surface/subsea supplements. WCS courses are available in instructor-led, web-based and computer-based format, and are accredited by IACET for CEU credits at the Introductory, Fundamental and Supervisor levels (IADC WellCAP® courses), and Levels 3 and 4 (IWCF courses).

System21

The System 21 e-Learning program uses interactive tasks and role-playing techniques to familiarize students with well control concepts. These self-paced courses are available in web-based and computer-based format for selected WCS Certified and IADC WellCAP® accredited courses. This program offers significant cost savings, as training is available at any WCS training center and online at any time around the world with 24/7 customer support.


Classroom Training

Well Control School provides WCS Certified, IADC and IWCF accredited courses led by certified subject-matter experts with years of field experience. Courses are offered at its training facilities in Houston, Texas; Lafayette, Louisiana; and Laurel, Mississippi.


Instructor-Led Courses

IWCF Rotary Drilling: This internationally recognized certification program focuses on the equipment, principles and procedures for Surface BOP Stack Operations or Combined Surface/Subsea BOP Stack Operations based on the IWCF Certification Standards. This course is designed for Drilling Superintendents, Toolpushers, Drillers, Assistant Drillers, Asset Managers, Consultants and Engineers involved in international operations. Course Durations: 5 Days; CEUs: 3.6

IWCF Rotary Drilling Surface: The course consists of well control training and testing on equipment, principles and procedures for surface operations. The certification standards are based on a detailed analysis of the well control knowledge that drillers and supervisors require, along with practical tasks that they must master in order to perform their jobs responsibly. This course is designed for drilling superintendents, toolpushers, drillers, assistant drillers, asset managers, consultants and engineers involved in international operations. Levels: 3 and 4. Course duration: 5 days; CEU: 3.6

IWCF Rotary Drilling, Combined Surface/Subsea: The course consists of well control training and testing on equipment, principles and procedures for combined surface/subsea BOP stack operations. The certification standards are based on a detailed analysis of the well control knowledge that drillers and supervisors require, along with practical tasks that they must master in order to perform their jobs responsibly. This course is designed for drilling superintendents, toolpushers, drillers, assistant drillers, asset managers, consultants and engineers involved in international operations. Levels: 3 and 4. IADC WellCAP® Drilling Surface: A competency-based training course that addresses the basic principles and theories of well control and presents the most commonly used well control techniques, including simulators for hands-on training. This course is designed for drilling superintendents, toolpushers, drillers, assistant drillers, floormen, derrickmen, roughnecks, asset managers, service company personnel, consultants and engineers. Levels: Fundamental and Supervisor. Course duration: 4 days; CEU: 2.4

IADC WellCAP® Drilling, Combined Surface/Surface: A competency-based training course that addresses the basic principles and theories of well control for surface and subsea operations, and presents the most commonly used well control techniques, including simulators for hands-on training. This course is designed for drilling superintendents, supervisors, toolpushers, operators, helpers, asset managers, service company personnel, consultants and engineers. Levels: Fundamental and Supervisor. Course duration: 4.5 days; CEU: 3.4

IADC WellCAP® Drilling, Workover-Completion Surface: A competency-based training course that addresses the basic principles and theories of well control and presents the most commonly used well control techniques, including simulators for hands-on training. IADC WellCAP® Workover-Completion, Coiled Tubing, Snubbing, Wireline Surface: The course presents commonly used well control techniques with workover-completion operations along with the three basic remedial operations of snubbing, wireline, and coiled tubing practices. The latest information and technologies available are utilized to instruct maintaining control of the well during workover-completion, coiled tubing, snubbing and wireline operations. This course is designed for superintendents, supervisors, toolpushers, operators, helpers, asset managers, service company personnel, consultants and engineers. Levels: Introductory, Fundamental and Supervisor. Course duration: 5 days; CEU: 3.4

IADC WellCAP® Coiled Tubing Surface: The course provides a foundation for knowledge of pressure control during coiled tubing operations. Instructions in maintaining control of the well during Coiled Tubing well intervention activities are demonstrated through the latest technology and industry standards. Actual coiled tubing simulators are included to assist the students in understanding and handling actual well control situations, providing added benefit to the student. This course is designed for CT supervisors, CT operators, asset managers, consultants and engineers. Levels: Introductory, Fundamental and Supervisor. Course duration: 4.5 days; CEU: 3.7

GAP Analysis Program: The Gap Analysis Program, also known as Quiz Maker, generates custom examinations for well control applications for training and skill evaluation purposes. The program helps companies meet the requirements set by the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcements (BSEE) training regulations for continuous testing and on-the-job training.
