Venus Exploration?s heritage dates back to the early days of energy exploration, when the Ames family drilled its first oil well in Oklahoma in 1912. During 85 years as a privately owned independent, Venus predecessors discovered, produced and sold interests in millions of barrels of oil from some of the most prolific fields in America. Today, Gene Ames, Jr., a geologist, heads Venus' management group at work with an industry-recognized technical team in development of exploratory prospects and leads. The company focuses its exploration in two core areas: the Expanded Yegua Trend of the Texas: Louisiana Gulf Coast and the Bossier / Cotton Valley Play of East Texas & Louisiana.
