Unocal's Business Activities
The company's North America Energy Operations and International Energy Operations groups are engaged in the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas and project development in 14 countries around the world. In 1999, Unocal produced 175,000 barrels of petroleum liquids and 1,836 million cubic feet of gas per day -- mainly from United States' Gulf of Mexico region, Thailand, and Indonesia.
The Geothermal Operations group produces geothermal energy, supplying steam for the generation of electricity to power plants with a combined installed capacity of nearly 1,100 megawatts.
Unocal Global Trade is an asset-based trading organization focused on improving margins -- for parent company Unocal Corporation and customers -- to achieve the highest oil and natural gas commodity trading performance at the lowest cost. In addition, Unocal Global Trade has the ability and skills to bring an integrated commercial, strategic and marketing approach to optimizing the value and performance of Unocal's crude oil, products and natural gas midstream assets.
