Ocean Rig is an independent offshore drilling contractor founded in 1996. The company?s objective is to be an international supplier of offshore drilling services focusing on operations in deep waters and harsh environments. Ocean Rig will offer its customers solutions that rank among the most cost effective and technologically advanced in the market.
In 1996 the company entered into an agreement with Dalian New Shipyard in China for the construction of a baredeck unit for a semi-submersible deepwater rig of the Bingo 9000 design.
Ocean Rig is established in Norway, in the United Kingdom (as Ocean Rig Ltd.) and in the United States (as US Ocean Rig Inc.). Current activities include operations of semi-submersible and jack-up offshore units off Norway and Mexico.
