Lone Star Technologies, Inc. (Lone Star) is a management and holding company whose principal wholly owned operating subsidiary, Lone Star Steel Company (Steel), serves three business segments: oilfield products which are manufactured and marketed globally to the oil and gas drilling industry; specialty tubing products provided to automotive, fluid power, and other markets for various mechanical applications; and flat rolled steel and other tubular products and services for general industrial markets.
With almost fifty years of tube welding experience, Steel continues to be at the forefront of steel tube marketing. Steel pioneered the full-body normalized electric resistance welded (ERW) manufacturing process, a technology that gives its tubes better performance characteristics than typical seam - annealed casing and tubing. Steel also pioneered the use of the stretch reduction process, induction heating for quenched and tempered oil country tublular goods (OCTG), and was the first mill in North America to install computer controlled cage-roll forming units. Steel offers the widest size and chemistry range of ERW high-quality prime OCTG with diameters from 1.90'' to 20'' in the United States.
Steel's specialty tubing facilities, the second largest in the world, produce the largest size range of Drawn-Over-Mandrel tubing in North America from 1/2'' to 15'' in diameters.
Steel produces flat rolled steel for fabricators of large-diameter transmission pipe, storage tanks, rail cars, and a variety of other construction and industrial products on its recently upgraded 1.4 million ton four-high rolling mill.
