The focus of Heartland Oil & Gas is the acquisition and development of coal bed methane (CBM) leases at it?s Soldier Creek Project at the Forest City basin in central Kansas, USA. The Soldier Creek area was chosen when a privately funded, proprietary analysis of historical drilling logs from previous drilling of deeper hydrocarbon targets revealed the existence of significant coal beds to the North and West of where CBM production was currently being successfully developed. This analysis also indicated that the coal bed thickness at Soldier Creek was more than four times greater than the coal beds being exploited nearby. Further adding to the area?s prospectiveness was its proximity to a ready market and gas pipelines; the consequence being that CBM produced at the Soldier Creek Project was likely to sell either at par or at a premium to the Nymex or Henry Hub price.
