    Company Description
One of the world's leading independent exploration and production companies. Our business is to provide shareholders with capital and income growth through the discovery, development and acquisition of oil and gas reserves. We are committed to protecting the environment and promoting the health and safety of staff and contractors. Our objective is to be the most successful finder and producer of hydrocarbons by exploiting, with integrity, our differences and unique skills.

Activities are focused in 3 core areas, comprising the UK and Ireland, Norway and Denmark, and Italy. In addition, the group is committed to diversifying its asset base into new venture areas.

The group's origins lie in the North Sea and Enterprise has significantly grown the business in this area since its formation in 1984. Enterprise is operator of the Nelson field, one of the province's most prolific producers, and of the Pierce field. The group had interests in 20 producing fields and five fields under or awaiting development on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) in March 2000.

In March 2000, the group had interests in nine producing fields on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). In October 1999, the Jotun field, was brought on stream. The company participated in the Idun discovery in 1999, and in Denmark the Siri field came on stream in March 1999. Italy was identified as one of Enterprise's first overseas exploration areas. The group began exploration there in 1985 and is now established as one of the most active exploration and production participants in the country.

Enterprise entered the US Gulf of Mexico in 1996 through a strategic alliance with the US company Pennzoil (now Devon Energy) and then strengthened its presence through a deal with EEX in 1997. The company made the Garden Banks 386 discovery on the Llano prospect. The Garden Banks 161 discovery was made in 1997 and this became Enterprise's first producing field in the US Gulf.
