Wellbore Navigation, Inc. (Welnav) was formed in 1981 expressly to design and manufacture a new-improved family of Directional Survey Instrumentation and Software. Welnav's key personnel had been employed by all the major survey instrument manufacturers before forming Welnav. Uniquely, Welnav planned to operate as a Directional Survey Service Company and to sell the products to companies and countries who wished to enter the directional survey market. Welnav manufactures a complete line of Photographic and Electronic Magnetic and Gyroscopic Survey tools. To date, Welnav is the only company who manufactures a survey product line and sells the products as well as uses them in a competitive Directional Survey Operation. Some companies manufacture survey instruments for their own use. They do not sell!!
