The Athabasca Regional Issues Working Group (RIWG) works to identify and resolve issues related to oil sands development in the region around Fort McMurray. With a staff of three and numerous subcommittees, RIWG helps to facilitate economic growth of the area.
RIWG works closely with industry representatives, oil sands developers, local and provincial governments, First Nations, and numerous other regional organizations. With a comprehensive issue management process, RIWG identifies issues of concern and works in a collaborative fashion with all key stakeholders to analyze, refer, study and ultimately resolve the issue.
