Fitters and Turners are responsible for setting up and assembling equipment and machinery including those used in welding. Fitters will usually have a mechanical background and are often also skilled in fabrication. A Trade qualification or Apprenticeship is usually desirable for Fitter and Turner jobs although not always a requirement if the person has relevant work experience.
