Refinery staff consists of a wide variety of positions within the petroleum refining industry. Most workers use special and automated equipment as refineries are highly automated. They often start as assistants of senior workers and work on rotating shifts. General refinery specialties include pipe fitters, boiler makers, electricians, maintenance technicians, refinery operators, and engineers.
