Purpose:

Provide leadership and oversight to a team of Business Development Engineers. Lead project managers and engineers in scoping, designing, and developing projects to build facilities such as natural gas, NGL, and crude oil pipelines, NGL fractionators, gas processing plants, compression facilities, and terminal facilities.



Scope:

The BD engineering team develops and supports the BD commercial team in scoping large growth projects and providing due diligence support for acquisitions. The engineering director is responsible for managing the process of project development and ensuring quality work is being delivered in a timely manner to internal customers. Projects will be developed in collaboration with the asset engineers and the operations group. The director will assess the skillset need for each potential project and will assign the work to the appropriate BD engineer for project development. The director will also mentor and train engineers in Enlink practices and procedures.



Key to the success of this candidate is to understand the abilities of the assets, be able to think through project scope, and provide effective communication on project cost, schedule, and feasibility. The candidate must be able to work with limited and ambiguous information throughout the initial development of projects.


Primary Responsibilities:

Manage and lead the BD engineering group to provide engineering support to the BD commercial group for major growth projects and mergers and acquisitions. Focus on customer service through timely response to business development team request and insistence of professional, clear and complete project deliverables.



Perform all aspects of project with business development team including:



• Material / equipment sizing and specification
• Project scope development
• Pipeline and process simulations

• Project economic development & evaluation
• Material / equipment estimates
• Contract evaluation (construction and commercial)
• Cost estimating and generation of AFE’s



Supervision of Personnel:

Directly supervises staff of 3-4 engineers.

Internal (Engineering & Operations) – VP(s) Business Unit Engineering, VP Shared Services, VP Operations, Director(s) Operations, VP EH&S, Director Measurement. VP(s) Commercial, Gas Supply, Gas Supply Rep, Director Marketing, VP Marketing,

External - Consultants (Engineering, ROW, construction, etc.)

Vendors, Suppliers and Construction Contractors

All other departments within Company (Corp. Development, Commercial, Accounting, Land – Legal, HR, Gas Control)



Experience (and other qualifications):

  • B.S. Engineering discipline required
  • 5-10 years midstream industry experience
  • Must be experienced in pipeline and facility designs (ASME B31.3, B31.4 & B31.8), project management, project cost control, basic economic evaluation, pipeline hydraulic simulation (Stoner or equivalent), plant simulations (Hysys or Promax preferred)
