Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler Mining & Metals currently has Principal Underground Mining Engineer opportunity available in our Oakville, ON office.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Managing the execution of studies and projects to provide world class quality results to our clients
  • Ensuring all projects and studies are completed on time and on budget, as well as in a manner consistent with Amec Foster Wheeler and client quality standards
  • Mentoring and training junior Amec Foster Wheeler personnel to prepare individuals and teams to take on additional roles and responsibilities
  • Playing a key role in business development activities by establishing and maintaining client relationships and developing business leads and work opportunities
  • Soliciting work and preparing proposals and bids for all levels of study and engineering projects
  • Ensuring that work under your supervision is an integral part of the global Amec Foster Wheeler mining team
  • Supporting continuous development of Amec Foster Wheeler cost and design databases
  • Participating in the development of Amec Foster Wheeler standards and procedures and in special interest groups
  • Performing peer review and senior review duties for work performed by others

Skills / Qualifications

  • B.Sc. Mining Engineering; M.Sc Mining Engineering or related education is preferred
  • Professional registration recognized under NI 43-101 or ability to be registered with Professional Engineers of Ontario within one year
  • 15 years’ experience in operations and engineering roles of increasing responsibility in the mining and/or consulting industry with focus on underground mine planning or mine design
  • Advanced software skills with underground mine planning software such as Vulcan, Gemcom, Datamine, PCBC, Deswik or Mine24D
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (foreign language skills are an advantage)
  • Project and engineering management experience
  • Budgeting, estimating, and scheduling experience
  • Willingness to travel
