Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently seeking an experienced Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessor to join our dynamic team in Kennesaw, GA.

This position requires the individual to provide technical support and solutions for the client.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong work relationships with existing and prospective clients
  • Provide technical leadership in all phases of human health risk assessment (or ecological risk assessment), including, but not limited to, site characterization, fate and transport modeling, data quality objectives, quantification of risk and hazards from contaminants, and development of site-specific remedial goals for a range of environmental media
  • Provide litigation support to clients in matters related to risk assessment
  • Serve as task manager or primary author for work plans, technical reports, and other technical submittals
  • Conduct statistical analysis of complex datasets, fate and transport modeling, exposure/risk modeling, and vapor intrusion modeling for hazardous chemicals
  • Direct scientific literature research, review site documentation, and provide expertise in human toxicology and Superfund risk assessment
  • Develop conceptual site exposure models
  • Respond to inquiries pertaining to human health and environmental effects of specific chemical substances
  • Lead or direct field sampling with field oversight opportunities (e.g., surface water, soil, sediment, biota, and/or groundwater)
  • Prepare technical proposals with limited supervision and assist in the preparation of large-scale proposals
  • Strong commitment to company’s Beyond Zero Safety program
  • Follow company safety standards, site safety standards, and maintain safe workplace practices

Skills / Qualifications

  • Degree in toxicology, biomedical sciences, or similar field is preferred
  • Master’s degree or equivalent work or research history
  • Professional registration or certification preferred
  • Minimum 5-10 years of related risk assessment experience; Consulting experience preferred
  • In-depth demonstrated knowledge in all areas of risk assessment and toxicology
  • Understanding and background with multiple state and federal regulatory frameworks (RCRA, CERCLA, NEPA, NRDA, etc.); Experience with Georgia Hazardous Site Response Act (HSRA) preferred
  • Experience with water quality issues and soil/sediment contamination concerns
  • Experience with indoor air vapor intrusion modeling
  • Experience with lead exposure modeling for human health risk assessment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to prepare reports and proposals
  • Working knowledge of statistics, including ProUCL, and MS Office applications
  • Working knowledge of risk assessment databases
  • Strong project management and client skills, including ability to manage scopes, schedules, and budgets for projects and work tasks
  • Proven proficiency at project coordination
  • Must be able to travel locally and nationally as necessary
  • Must be located in the Atlanta area or willing to relocate to the Atlanta area
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
