Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is a multi-disciplined consulting organization primarily consisting of environmental scientists and engineers with offices throughout the United States. Amec Foster Wheeler E&I is seeking an Air Quality Engineer with 2 to 5 years of air quality experience to join our Atlanta Metro Area (Kennesaw, GA) office and become an integral member of our team.


Key Responsibilities


This person will be a member of a team providing primarily air quality and other environmental engineering services to private industry and government clients. This position will support a wide variety of projects including air emissions inventories, permit applications, air quality computer modeling and support for other environmental compliance and remediation projects. Some of the responsibilities of this position will include:


  • Performs field exploration, inspections, analyses; provides technical support with supervision
  • Acts as a data gatherer; prepares charts; runs computer models
  • Interprets data and test results
  • Prepares reports, internal correspondence, sections of formal reports
  • Contacts vendors; researches literature and regulatory requirements
  • Conducts engineering, scientific and routine calculations
  • Prepares and evaluates data sets
  • Assists in preparing reports and proposal writing
  • Conduct air pollution dispersion computer modeling of air pollution dispersion
  • Air pollution control feasibility studies
  • With experience, may supervise subcontractors and/or company employees
  • Follows company safety standards, site safety standards, and provides all required permitting

Skills / Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Environmental Engineering
  • Some knowledge of all manner of industrial plants and processes
  • 2+ years experience in environmental engineering and air permitting in Georgia and the southeast
  • Technical understanding of permitting process, air modeling, and regulations
  • Computer proficient (must have proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and excellent spreadsheet skills
  • Working knowledge with all forms of air dispersion models
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Demonstrated verbal communication and technical presentation skills
  • Team player and technical contributor



  • Master’s degree in Environmental or other Engineering
  • Knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal air quality regulations
  • Prior experience conducting air quality compliance projects in Georgia and the southeast
  • Specific knowledge or experience in several of the following air permitting areas: New Source Review (NSR), Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD assessments), Title V permitting, Development of annual air emission inventories (AEI, SARA 313), Best Available Control Technology (BACT) or Lowest Achievable Emission Achievable Rate (LAER) evaluations
  • Demonstrated knowledge with AERMOD, ISCST3, and CALPUFF models
  • Prior consulting experience
