Overview / Responsibilities


Amec Foster Wheeler is currently recruiting for an E&I QC Inspectors to be based in Izmir, Turkey to work on the construction of the STAR Aegean Refinery. This position will be on a Fixed Term Contract basis and is expected to run until the end of 2018.


The STAR Aegean Refinery is a greenfield complex crude oil refinery in the Izmir region with the capacity to process 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day. It comprising various process units including Crude and Vacuum, Coker, MEROX, Hydrocracker, Diesel Hydrotreatment, Naphtha, Amines & SWS, Sulfur and CCR. This project is being executed by an EPC Contractor and Amec Foster Wheeler is delivering Project Management Consultancy services to STAR for this prestige project.



• Witness continuity testing / meggering of cable drums on receipt

• Witness continuity testing / meggering of cable immediately prior to installation

• Witness installation / testing of grounding / earthing system

• Perform Surveillance Inspection of conduit and cable tray installation

• Perform Surveillance Inspection of conduit seal pouring

• Perform Surveillance Inspection of cable terminations

• Assist with Receipt Inspection of transformers and MCCs (if purged, perform Surveillance Inspection periodically to ensure positive pressure is maintained)

• Witness installation of MCCs and switchgear

• Witness installation of transformers

• Assist with Receipt Inspection of heat trace cables and related materials

• Perform Surveillance Inspection of in-process installation to ensure that heat tracing is installed per specifications

• Witness post-installation testing of heat tracing for acceptance inspection 

• Assist with Receipt Inspection of instruments

• Perform Surveillance Inspection of instrument calibration

• Perform Surveillance Inspection of in-process instrument installation

  -Verify instrument tubing is properly supported per specifications

  -Verify all the instrument electrical installation inspections and megger tests have been completed and are acceptable

• Perform Surveillance Inspection of Instrument Loop Checking

  -Verify all installation inspections, pressure testing and continuity checks have been completed and documented by the Contractor

  -Verify the loop has been checked and is operating properly


Skills / Qualifications

  • Graduate of Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Excellent computer literacy and skills
  • Basic leadership and decision-making skills
  • Basic computer software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the use of spreadsheets and electronic presentations
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Fleuency in English
