Overview of Position:

This position reports to President. It requires a high level of independence, however manages a large drilling and completion Team as well as interfaces and support operations as managed by the Drilling superintendent. This position also interfaces directly with the client on a daily basis and serves as an integral communications asset of Team.

The Project Drilling Manager must be somebody who is self-motivated, learns quickly, anticipates needs, works independently and has demonstrated the ability to multitask and manage large Teams as well as be very successful in Drilling well construction  The successful candidate needs strong interpersonal skills, work and provide support to a large office and field Team of 10- 15 personnel, has a keen eye for attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality.


Position Details:


Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Handles all responsibilities including managing and planning the Team  calendar in Outlook, finalizing  agendas for meetings, conferences and special functions. Leads team meetings and maintains action item lists.
  • Reviews e-mail and incoming correspondence, prioritizing items that need immediate attention and assigning action items as appropriate. Compose replies as needed with proper handling of sensitive and confidential material.
  • Approves Team billings to the client to support Accounting,  approves timesheets for employees/consultants
  • Assists in the onboarding of  personnel for the Company
  • Approves and reviews expense reports with appropriate documentation.
  • Maintains effective communications with the company leadership team and to a broad array of internal and external contacts.
  • Provides supervision of engineering and other technical support to the Drilling Superintendent.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-20 years Deep Shelf / DW GOM Operator experience,  HPHT/ Subsalt well experience,
  • BS Engineering Degree required & Professional registration preferable, required Operator & Turnkey experience is preferable.
  • Management of office based drilling and completion team, Safety/HSE champion, Team building and project management of drilling execution, vendor negotiation
  • Familiarity with high spec JU, vessels and helicopter logistical programs, Familiarity with BSEE/BOEM regulations and personnel
  • Management of project execution with Operator client
  • Must be able to handle all activities with high level of initiative and independence while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage drilling and completion projects and meet deadlines. Ability to multi-task, anticipate needs and requirements and follow through. Strong organizational skills and attention to details are crucial.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with all levels of employees to convey ideas.
  • Ability to problem solve and use good judgement in making sound decisions quickly.
  • Strong team player and interpersonal skills and strong skills with demonstrated ability to work well with all levels of employees. Must adapt to different work styles and remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong computer skills required with advanced proficiency in all technical drilling software, MS office applications. Outlook, Word, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years Project Drilling Manager experience providing direct support to Team level management.
  • Minimum of 12- 20 years of Oil and Gas E&P drilling experience/knowledge,  engineering services and/or drilling contractor services preferred.
  • Familiar with coordinating all aspects of travel. Strong knowledge of international geographic locations and prior international drilling experience.preferred
  • Strong knowledge of company organization structure are highly desired.
  • Is flexible with work schedule.
  • Demonstrated strong current performance.
  • Minimum BS Engineering college degree, with MS Engineering or or other advanced degree preferred
  • Working knowledge or fluency in other languages preferred (Spanish, Portuguese, French, Russian or Indonesian) preferred
