Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler Mining & Metals is seeking a Mechanical Coordinator (Rotation Specialist) in the Commissioning group at our Legacy project site near Bethune, SK. The successful candidate will liaise with the construction management team, home office engineering support, client and contractor personnel in order to successfully support the commissioning stage of the project.



  • At the planning phase, participate in all levels of engineering M & P reviews. Recognize and promptly address design issues they may have a negative impact during Construction and/or commissioning execution
  • Identify start-up and running spares for M & P installations. Identify critical spares and lead time for delivery
  • Ensure spares for the commissioning execution phase are on site ahead of schedule
  • Participate in all SAT and FAT exercises relating to the M & P disciplines. Assist in the subsystem development program and scheduling process
  • Support the development of a comprehensive M & P Witness/Hold program
  • Assist in the overall development of a LOTO, Permitting and Safety program for commissioning purposes
  • Assist in the development of completions and commissioning PIFs
  • Develop” B and C Checksheets”
  • Review and sign-off QA “A Checksheets
  • Develop detailed test procedures and ensure safety is integrated into the procedure
  • Work closely with each discipline ensure an overall integrated test plan is developed
  • Ensure a high standard of discipline support is provided across the project consistently
  • Review and sign-off contractor dossiers. Perform detailed M&P subsystem walkdowns, identify and log additional deficiencies and validate existing construction deficiencies
  • Manage and schedule contractor workfaces and ensure continual compliance with Commissioning PIFs
  • Support the Turnover & Handover processes, CM to completions and completions to our client, respectfully
  • Validate M & P installations are in compliance with project design, specifications and applicable codes
  • Ensure M & P field installations are in accordance with vendor specifications where applicable
  • Validate M & P equipment preservation at the time of subsystem turnover
  • Actively participate in construction's integrity testing program in accordance with the project's "Witness / Hold" program
  • Assist in the identification, documentation and communication of the organization's deliverables and dependencies across the project
  • Clearly identify cross-project interfaces
  • Support the Turnover process from CM to Completions
  • Support the Handover process from Completions to our client

Skills / Qualifications

  • Full certification in one or more disciplines, of which at least one is Mechanical or Piping
  • 10+ years’ project experience in Completions & Commissioning
  • Prior construction experience in the Mechanical discipline
  • Superior knowledge of the project’s construction QSA and HSSE processes
  • Knowledge of completion databases and the processes governing their usage
  • Proven working knowledge of Mechanical and Piping equipment and material
  • Proven experience relating to M&P testing methodologies
  • General knowledge pertaining to the commissioning goals; especially those of other disciplines
  • Superior knowledge of testing and compliance standards, vendor or other
  • Superior working knowledge of AQ / QC processes
  • Experience in M&P equipment start-up and bring new equipment online
  • Previous experience working on large scale industrial projects
