Division: ALS Oil & Gas - Well Monitoring and Pipeline & Asset Integrity Monitoring

Reports to: General Manager - Well Monitoring and Pipeline & Asset Integrity Monitoring
General Accountability: The Business Development Representative will be responsible for developing new business in the well monitoring, pipeline and asset integrity monitoring markets.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Development of key corporate accounts
  • Routine sales management of key corporate accounts
  • Budgeting
  • Develop a pipeline and midstream asset strategy and business plan
  • Develop target lists of potential new business clients in the defined territory
  • Relate, in a positive and productive manner, the services available at ALS to existing and potential clients
  • Plan, coordinate and carry out a series of contacts with qualified clients in order to increase business
  • Perform sales and cold calls, as required, to meet business development goals
  • Supply the client with requested information on all aspects of ALS operations, both general services and specific technical information
  • Assist in the communications between ALS and the clients, through follow up on pricing, billing, and technical issues
  • Effective use of time management to maximize sales, customer service and efficiency
  • Assist team with scheduling and day-to-day planning activities
  • Provide quotations and pricing and give input on proposals to senior staff; follow up on these quotations and proposals to track successes and failures
  • Keep in constant contact with the market-place and report back to Operations
  • Supply management with contact reports, weekly reports, and monthly sales plans
  • Utilize CRM program to its full capacity
  • Have involvement in industry trade organizations and events
  • Participate in weekly operational & sales meetings; present weekly sales report
  • Assist in arranging ALS Oil & Gas seminars and workshops for well monitoring,┬ápipeline and asset clients
  • Attend and represent ALS Oil & Gas at tradeshows and conferences
  • Lead and organize client events, seminars and presentations
  • Write proposals and quotes as required
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant environmental criteria and guidelines
  • Maintain knowledge of the well monitoring, pipeline and midstream asset industry, leak detection issues, corrosion issues, monitoring methods, PHMSA regulations, and the group's capabilities and service offerings
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures
  • Assist other ALS Oil & Gas service divisions sales with key relationships and contacts
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Participate in client appreciation events and industry seminars/conferences;
  • Track public RFP's

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Fiber Optics in Oil and Gas
  • Excellent interpersonal and sales skills
  • Strong customer service background
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication
  • Comfortable with public speaking

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience working in the Oil and Gas sector, in either pipeline/Midstream , Fiber Optics, or engineering is a requirement
  • 5+ years of experience in business development and sales is a requirement
  • College or technical Diploma in related field preferred
  • Experience with sales and customer service
  • Experience with a plus
  • Experience with NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) a plus
  • An understanding of the pipeline industry, and leak detection and corrosion issues a plus
  • Valid, clear driver's license and use of own vehicle for travelling
  • Physical Demands:
  • This position requires a person to sit up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to spend 50% of your time travelling
  • This position will require work outside of regular work hours
