Motiva has refineries located in Convent and Norco, Louisiana and Port Arthur, Texas with combined capacity of over 1 million barrels per day, making it the third largest manufacturing company in the Americas. As announced on March 16, Motiva’s owners have signed a non-binding Letter of Intent to separate the assets and businesses of the joint venture. Saudi Aramco publicly stated at that time Motiva will be set up as an autonomous integrated downstream affiliate. As such, Motiva remains committed to managing its current business and preparing the organization to function as a stand-alone entity. Motiva is seeking talented professionals who want to make a difference in the company and the industry.
  The role is responsible for Motiva policy development, and supporting Motiva businesses/HR in policy application. The HR Policy Manager must address tough complex policy issues and questions and is required to stay current with employment legislations and then update company policy based on new laws or business needs. This role also serves as a resource to location and business staff with respect to policy matters helping develop the less experienced policy resources in the business. Additionally, this role is required to effectively deal with substantial change and project management that may potentially impact Motiva employees.

Subject matter accountability and policy knowledge management
Providing policy guidance and support to HR staff across Motiva including;

  • Keeping abreast of trends/competitive practice/legal landscape as they relate to Motiva HR policies.
  • Reviewing policies, making recommendations for change, and consulting with each business on changes and implementation.
  • Providing overall process management and administration of programs and policies
  • Coordinating the development of severance plans: providing consultation and guidance, including obtaining necessary approvals.
  • The role will also communicate and implement new and revised policies
  • Providing support for HR projects in other areas of in addition to Policy.

Complexity: Responsible for US policy development and maintaining existing policies, revising policies as needed based on new/changing laws, changing internal and external drivers and requirements as well as business requests.

Special Challenges Include
This role requires great organization skills in order to effectively balance the various accountabilities including projects, business focal point, and policy subject matter expert. Another challenge is the ability to dive deeply into a regulation/policy then pulling back out to present a high level overview and see the bigger picture (i.e. implications for the company and keeping it simple to communicate) In addition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to hone their influencing skills when not having governance. The ideal candidate for this position will be an experienced HR professional. Background in policy and benefits is desirable but not necessary. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with a steep learning curve and with significant task variety, and meeting tight deadlines. 
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • Minimum of eight (8+) years experience
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Extensive HR policy experience.
