Today Shell Australia is focused largely in the upstream sector, especially in the exploration, development and production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and oil.The Mechanical Technician assists the maintenance team to deliver safe and efficient mechanical maintenance over the QCLNG facility.
Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, you will provide safe and efficient mechanical maintenance to the QGC facility. With responsibilities spanning emergency response and shutdown, you will work within OEM guidelines, provide advice for lifecycle management, monitor contract staff and provide input into shutdowns. You will act as a relief Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator / Supervisor in their absence and be able to execute and perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on plant and equipment, safely and efficiently, and provide technical assistance as required to the Operations Team.
To be able to carry out this role effectively you must demonstrate high quality fault finding skills and the ability to troubleshoot autonomously, and provide expertise that will be relied upon to give advice when making decisions on lifecycle management.
Excellent communication, conflict resolution, high level computing, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, collaborative and time management skills are crucial to success in this role. We are looking for someone with a sound knowledge of and commitment to asset integrity, a strong drive for results and high levels of self-motivation.
A Mechanical Trade background and extensive post trade experience are essential. To be successful you should have significant experience in the operations of a LNG, gas processing, complex hydrocarbon facility, maintenance integrity principles and shut down experience, or similar experience gained on a ‘Major Hazardous Facility’.
Qualifications such as Certificate III or IV in ESI Generation, Boiler and Open Turbine Operators’ Certificates, electrical or mechanical trade background and confined space and working at heights accreditation would be highly regarded. Ideally, you’ll also have experience in at least one of the following environments: Complex Processing, Major Hazard Facilities, Central Control Room or Cryogenics.
This role is based on Curtis Island, relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.
