The successful candidate will be an experienced attorney responsible for advising the company on complex legal issues related to business activities, and will act as a company advocate and advisor with respect to legal matters in one or more substantive areas of law. Will interpret the intent of laws and judicial decisions, and apply them to specific circumstances as applicable to company business. Will communicate with vendors, customers, and internal clients of the company and manage outside counsel with assistance from a supervising attorney.
Working in the Global Ethics & Compliance Practice Group within Halliburton-s Law Department and with other lawyers in Houston and around the world, you will be responsible for independently providing international compliance advice, guidance, and training to Halliburton-s business operations. The successful candidate will support operations in the Asia-Pacific region on diverse regulatory compliance issues as a member of Halliburton-s Regional Compliance Counsel group. Specifically, the candidate will undertake a wide range of responsibilities, primarily involving the Company-s Code of Business Conduct (COBC), including, but not limited to, the following subject-matter areas: anti-bribery and corruption (ABC), fraud, antitrust, employment law, financial integrity, data privacy, international trade, gifts/hospitality, and charitable and political activities. The Regional Compliance Counsel will also oversee and perform risk-based due diligence associated with Halliburton agents and third party vendors in the Asia-Pacific region. The position will involve oversight of internal investigations and management of outside counsel. Knowledge of and experience working with international anti˜orruption and anti-bribery laws, including the FCPA, UK Bribery Act, and similar Asia-Pacific laws would be a distinct advantage. Sound legal experience and a calm, confident, and practical solutions oriented approach are required. The position also requires strong presentation skills and a team player mentality, with the ability to interact effectively and cooperatively at all levels in the Halliburton organization, including with clients, lawyers (in-house and in private practice), staff, and other professionals. Travel within the Asia-Pacific region and globally will be required.
- Law degree and authorization to work as an attorney in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia or Singapore-
- Minimum of 3 years related experience
- Bar member in good standing
- Knowledge of and experience with international compliance, particularly anti˜orruption laws and practice
- English fluency
- Multi-lingual candidates will receive enhanced consideration.
- Prior experience in the anti-bribery and corruption practice area.
- Experience with business transactions.
- Experience working for a multinational company or representation of a multinational company.
- Prior in house experience extremely helpful.
- Position reports to the Vice President and Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer overseeing the Global Ethics & Compliance Group in Houston, who reports to the Executive Vice President and General Counsel in Houston.
- Position will sit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (preferred) or Singapore, with extensive regional and global travel required.

By 1946, the company – using its innovative technology – had expanded into Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and the Middle East and began performing services for the Arabian-American Oil Company, the forerunner of Saudi Aramco.
In 1951, Halliburton made its first appearance in Europe as Halliburton Italiana SpA., a wholly owned subsidiary in Italy. In the next seven years, Halliburton launched Halliburton Company Germany GmbH, set up operations in Argentina and established a subsidiary in England.
In 1984, Halliburton provided all of the well completion equipment for the first multiwell platform offshore China. Two years later, Halliburton became the first American company to perform an oilfield service job on the China mainland
The final decade of the 20th century brought more changes and growth to Halliburton. The company opened a branch office in Moscow in 1991.
The company realigned its work into Eastern and Western Hemisphere operations in 2006, and in 2007, divided its service offerings into two divisions: Completion and Production, and Drilling and Evaluation.
